The Golden Kitchen Food Pantry is a community-based service endeavor with a vision Sister Versie McNeil felt passionate about to help support the community in addressing food insecurities. With the assistance from members of Golden Rule Lodge#24 and Golden Rule Chapter#50, they help to open this food pantry addressing low-income families and all individuals or families that have food insecurities. Our mission is to “Fight Hunger and Feed Hope.” We opened in October 2015 and are located at 221 Oswald Place, Vauxhall, NJ 07088. We distribute non-perishable foods, children's diapers, adult diapers, and feminine products to over 266 households and 800 members on the 2nd Saturday of every month, 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM, and the fourth Wednesday of every month, 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM. We service individuals and families in other communities that may need assistance.

Currently, our food is supplied by the Community Food Bank of NJ (CFBNJ), donations and grants from various organizations like St. Matthew AME Church, Bethel AME Church, Seabra’s in Union, Atlantic Health, Whole Foods Market Community Giving Program, Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), Mulcare Corporation, LiVay Sweet Shop, and various individuals in the community and community-based Sororities and Fraternities.

In 2019, Golden Rule Lodge launched a small Community Garden and successfully donated fresh veggies to us throughout the harvest season. We realize the importance of a healthy diet to ensure the fight against illness, and this prompted us to move towards providing a more health-conscious menu to our community all year round. Both entities previously received funds from Atlantic Health System, in which we were able to install a walking refrigerator and add an automatic watering system form to the plot of land donated by the Township of Union, NJ. Golden Rule Food Pantry and the Golden Rule Community Garden are currently a subsidiary of Golden Rule Community Outreach Corporation. Which is a 501c3 nonprofit.
